THINGS PARENTS SHOULD KNOW

CAMPER ELIGIBILITY:

Boys and girls of good character, who have completed grades 2 through 9 are eligible to enroll at Camp Mac. Due to our extensive waterfront program, campers are required to be able to swim (at least 50 ft.) before attending Camp Mac. Because every camp is different, we feel that it is important for the parent and the camp to work together to determine if the camp program is right for your child's maturity, ability, and interest. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to or dismiss any camper who has a history of being disruptive, cannot follow directions, will not cooperate with camp staff or is unable to adjust to our program.

DRESS CODE:

1. Except for swim suits, clothing should not allow bare midriff to be exposed. (See #2).
2. Girls: Nylon-type shorts or coverups must be worn over swimsuit when walking to activities at lake.
3. Any body-pierced area must be covered in order to participate in any activity outside of cabin.
Exception: Earrings for girls only.
4. Boys: Maximum hair length should be off shoulders and out of face.
5. The Head Counselors have the discretion to determine appropriate dress for any activity.

LIMITED ENROLLMENT: (734 boys and girls)

Last summer, Camp Mac received 859 applications from 17 states, 112 towns and cities, 4 campers from Russia, 1 camper from Germany and 1 camper from France. In order to continue to provide the quality program which has enabled us to generate this kind of interest, our enrollment is limited to 124 girls and 118 boys in each of our three sessions. In the 4 Week Terms over 80% of those enrolled were returning campers.

TELEPHONE, OFFICE HOURS AND E-MAIL:

Talladega Exchange 256/362-7449 (listed under "Bob McBride", not "Camp Mac"). Office staff may be reached at this number between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (Central Time) or via office@campmac.com. Our phone is not for campers' use except in case of emergency. Parents and grandparents only may e-mail campers through our website (see center page for website info). Passwords are given to parents on Check-In Day.

NO VISITING:

Experience has shown that campers adjust better to camp life without the interruption of visiting days. Therefore, with the welfare of our campers in mind, there will be no visiting during camp sessions. However, parents are encouraged to meet our staff and tour the camp grounds on Check-In and Check-Out Days. The camp grounds are not open to the general public.

LEAVING DURING CAMP TERM:

Each day of camp is carefully planned and organized. Because of our instructional program, it is very disruptive for a camper to miss a single day. Therefore, except in the case of a medical emergency, any camper who does not complete the term or is absent more than 48 hours during the course of a term will lose their "old camper priority" for the next summer. We strongly recommend that conflicts with athletic/cheerleading type activities be resolved before the Confirmation Fee is paid in order to prevent a loss of fees as well as the loss of old camper priority. There is no reduction in fees for days missed during the camp term.

CABINS:

According to their present grade in school, campers are assigned to cabins where approximately 12 to 16 campers, an adult Sr. Counselor, a Jr. Counselor, and a Counselor-In-Training live as a congenial camp family. Cabin assignments are not given out before Check-In Day.

BIRTHDAYS AT CAMP:

A birthday cake is provided for each camper who has a birthday at camp.
